Bale set to stay at Real Madrid - Player's agent

Bale's agent pours cold water on transfer rumors following player's meeting with Zidane

May 8, 2019 By Oscar Rojas
The Welshman may not be included in Zidane's 2019-20 project, but his agent insists on his client's desire to stay at the Bernabeu.

Zinedine Zidane may have told Bale about his intentions, but the player does not seem to be on board with his plans.

Earlier this week, reports coming in from Spain revealed that Zidane had already told Bale to search for other employment opportunities, but the player's agent, Jonathan Barnett, has stepped up to clarify what the future has in store for the Welshman.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Barnett hinted that the player's inner circle will not make Bale's transfer away from the Bernabeu an easy one, especially if Los Blancos can't find a team that is willing to pay the Welshman's massive salary.

"He wants to stay. I'm not sure if Mister Zidane wants him to, though. Right now, Gareth wants to stay and see the end of his contract, which takes place in 2022. He has been and is, in my opinion, one of the three or four best players in the world. This is my opinion, I'm not saying that Mister Zidane has to think that. He's entitled to have his opinion, I'm not going to criticize him for it," Barnett said.

Barnett went on to discuss the amount of money Bale will want if he decides to leave the club. As of now, there have been no offers to sign the Welshman, but rumors state that a return to the Premier League could be in the works. Nevertheless, Barnett remained adamant on one thing: signing Bale won't be cheap.

"Certainly it's possible (to see Bale returning to the Premier League), if a team comes to us and pays what we feel to deserve. It's going to be a good payday!" Barnett added.

As things stand, Real Madrid might be forced to take a cut from their pretended transfer fee if they want to offload Bale, and only time will tell if the player and his agent change their stance regarding the footballer's future.
