The Brazilian superstar appeared to have attacked a Rennes fan on his way for his runners-up medal.

Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar Jr seems to have landed himself in trouble as he appeared to have punched a rival fan following Saturday's Coupe de France final defeat. The 27-year-old winger and his teammates were stunned at Stade de France after they blew a two-goal lead to end the normal proceedings with Rennes tied at 2-2.

The unexpected then ensued as the Parisians suffered a 6-5 defeat in the penalty shootouts, a result which handed Rennes its first Coupe de France title in 48 years. In footages that have been circulating since Saturday's final, Neymar Jr. first appeared to have restrained the Rennes fan from filming him and his teammate who were walking up the steps to collect their runners-up medal.

After a brief exchange of angry words, the fan leaned forward towards Neymar but quickly jumped backward after the Brazilian threw his right fist in his direction. Watch the incident below:

Multiple claims suggest that the fan provoked a reaction from Neymar by insulting the PSG star and his teammate. However, reports from France indicate that the French Football Federation could hand Neymar a five-match ban in all domestic competitions should they investigate and find the Brazilian guilty of punching the Rennes fan.

It is worth noting that Neymar Jr received a three-match ban in the Champions League after he shouted expletives at match officials following PSG's shock Champions League Round of 16 elimination by Manchester United back in March.
