The Reds' attacker landed himself in an elite company for his crucial goal against Southampton on Friday.

Mohamed Salah reached a historic milestone with his goal in Liverpool's Premier League encounter with Southampton on Friday. After failing to find the back of the net in the league in almost two months, the Egyptian attacker finally ended his goal drought by scoring his 50th Premier League goal for the Reds.

Prior to the 26-year-old forward's strike, Liverpool's title hopes was almost put in jeopardy after Southapton opened the scoring in the ninth-minute through Shane Long. Nevertheless, Naby Keita restored parity before the half time break with his first Liverpool goal in a competitive outing.

Mo Salah's 80th minute strike then handed Jurgen Klopp's side the lead before Jordan Henderson put the game to bed with another goal six minutes later.

The night's feat saw Salah reaching a few milestones. Primarily, he became the fastest player to reach 50 Premier League goals in the history of Liverpool as the ex-Chelsea and AS Roma star required just 69 matches to pull off the feat.

In the history of the English top-flight league, only Alan Shearer (66) and Ruud van Nistelrooy (68) required a lesser number of games to score half-a-century of goals. Also, Mohamed Salah became only the second player in Premier League history to score in each of his first three matches on a Friday.

Ex-Arsenal star Thierry Henry did so in all four of matches he featured in on Friday during his Premier League career.
