Manchester United's top 3 summer transfer targets identified

March 22, 2019 By Emmanuel K. Budu-Annor
The Red Devils have identified a trio of stars for their summer wishlist.

Three players have been labelled as priority signings for Manchester United ahead of the summer transfer window. The Red Devils, who are yet to permanently appoint a manager following the sack of Jose Mourinho are aiming to bolster their ranks in a bid to challenge for the league title next season.

Fans of the English club have seen their side playing more attacking football since the arrival of interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Norwegian manager has been tipped to secure the job on a permanent basis and, according to UK outlet Evening Standard, he could have Jadon Sancho, Kalidou Koulibaly and Bruno Fernandes in his squad for next season.

Reports in January hinted at Koulibaly joining the Red Devils. However, all advancements for the Senegalese center back's signature were blocked by his current club Napoli.

Although Manchester United is believed to be keeping tabs on the likes of Raphael Varane and Tottenham Hotspur's Toby Alderweireld, Koulibaly is said to be the club's primary target to reinforce the center back position. While the pursuit looks appealing, the defender will reportedly cost the English club not less than 100 million pounds.

In midfield, the skipper of Sporting CP Bruno Fernandes could also be recruited to give competition to the likes of Paul Pogba, Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matic. The 24-year-old has caught the eyes of a host of top European clubs by scoring 24 goals and assisting 13 times across all competitions this season.

Relatively, Jadon Sancho who has flirted with the idea of joining Manchester United in recent time could be making a switch to the Premier League come this summer. The 18-year-old has exceled for Borussia Dortmund since joining from Manchester City in 2017, scoring nine goals and assisting 14 across all competitions this season.

While the Signal Iduna outfit has maintained its stance of not being interested in parting ways with the teenage star, reports suggest that United could test the club's resolve with a fee in the region of 100 million pounds.
