The Liverpool attacker inventively doubled his side's lead with an audacious attempt.

It was Sadio Mane's goal that sparked the mauling at home to Watford but it was his second of the night that has caught eyes and earned loads of plaudits following the end of Wednesday's proceeding.

The 26-year-old winger set the ball rolling in his historic night by grabbing Liverpool's opening goal just nine minutes after kick-off. 11 minutes later, the Senegalese added a second to take his goal tally for the season to 14 – surpassing his best-ever goal tally in a single Premier League season of 13 goals recorded in 2016/2017.

Nonetheless, it is the manner in which the goal was scored that has been the talk of the town. Following a rather heavy first touch which supposedly took his momentum, Mane spontaneously rounded off the chance with an excellent backheel finish to stop Watford goalie Ben Foster dead in his tracks.

In subsequent developments, Divock Origi grabbed Liverpool's third of the night's encounter in the 66th minute before Virgil van Dijk also bagged a double between the 79th and 82nd minutes. The night's heavy win sent the Reds back to the top of the Premier League table.

Manchester City still trails the Merseysiders by just a point after snatching three vitals points via a 1-0 win over a bullish West Ham side.
