With Mauro Icardi's situation at Inter Milan going from bad to worse, Manchester United fans have apparently found a mutually beneficial solution. A lot has been happening in the past week after the Argentine striker's contract extension negotiation with the Nerazzurri stalled.

Firstly, the Serie A club stripped the captaincy off the 25-year-old forward and named goalkeeper Samir Handanovic as its new skipper. In wake of the development, Icardi responded by refusing to be part of the squad that faced Rapid Wien in the Europa League on Thursday. Inter head coach Spalletti subsequently cleared the air by claiming that an injury ruled the player out of action.

In recent times, Icardi has been at the center of persistent transfer rumors with the likes of Real Madrid and Juventus cited as his potential destination. Amid the ongoing fracas, reports from Italy claim that the Inter Milan striker is already in discussion to join the Bianconeri this summer.

Nonetheless, Manchester United fans believe that a win-win scenario will be for Icardi to move to Old Trafford with Romelu Lukaku heading in the opposite direction.

The Red Devils are yet to get the best out of the Belgian striker who has lost his starting position to the in-form Marcus Rashford under interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. In 32 appearances across all competitions this season, the former Everton star has managed nine goals and four assists.

With Icardi having been linked with the Old Trafford outfit in the past, many of the club's fans believe that Lukaku could be used to make the deal happen this time around. The Argentine has scored 15 times in 28 appearances for Inter this season.
