A fiery interview given by Maximiliano Duarte reveals details on how he tried to convince Sala not to board the ill-fated plane

The dramatic tale of Emiliano Sala keeps going fifteen days after he disappeared.

There have been some major developments in the player's case, as a submarine search found the remains of the aircraft in which Sala and pilot Dave Ibbotson were traveling to Cardiff. Later on Monday, images revealed to those conducting the search that a body was found inside the plane, almost confirming that the chances of finding the footballer alive are remote.

After the tragic news emerged, a fiery interview with Sala's childhood friend Maximiliano Duarte left agent Willie McKay in a bad position, since the player's friend believes that the agent should be held responsible for what happened to the striker.

"McKay should be blamed. That's the major truth behind all of this, he's guilty of what happened. Emiliano never decided to jump into that airplane. He was forced to do it, it was one of those things he had to endure as a footballer," Duarte said.

Duarte also tol América Noticias how he tried to change Sala's mind about not making that trip.

"Emi was forced to go on that plane late in the middle of the night. I told him not to do so, but he had no say on having that flight cancelled," Duarte said.

"My hopes of finding him alive are gone" - Emiliano Sala's father

Horacio Sala, father of the ill-fated striker, was one of the first family members to step up and talk about his son's disappearance. Fifteen days later, he gave a gloomy statement on how recent developments have killed all hope of finding his son alive.

"I have no words left in me. Now, all we can hope for is for both bodies to be in there. At least we had some sort of news after 15 days," Horacio Sala told Canal 13. "Our hopes of finding Emi alive are gone now," he added.

Sala's dad seemed to agree with Maximiliano Duarte's words on how someone should be held accountable for what happened to his son.

"Someone should be held responsible. This should not be the end of things. All justice departments should keep investigating to determine what happened to the plane," Sala said.

Before the interview concluded, Horacio Sala shared the final wish he holds regarding his son.

"All I want is for him to be found. I hope he's in there, because if he left the plane for some reason, it's going to be harder to find his body. The news about search parties finding a body in there gave me some relief, but I can't begin to explain how I feel right now," the Argentine concluded.
