Unai Emery is reportedly keen on reuniting with the player, as the Gunners look for cheaper means of bolstering their squad.

Ahead of their highly-anticipated FA Cup clash, Arsenal is being heavily linked with a move for a Man United playmaker. That man is none other than Juan Mata.

The Spaniard is in the final year of his Red Devils contract and can leave for nothing in the summer. He has the liberty to sign a pre-contract with foreign clubs, with Juventus and PSG showing interest in the midfielder, but the Gunners hope to beat everyone to the punch.

Unai Emery worked with the midfielder at Valencia and is reportedly eager to reunite with him, as per the Daily Mirror. Add in the fact that this would be a Bosman transfer makes it all the more pleasing given the north London outfit's limited funds.

The Old Trafford board has held contract negotiations with the former Chelsea maestro. Nonetheless, no breakthrough has been reached and the 30-year-old now appears destined to leave for free in a few months.

Furthermore, the World Cup winner has only started nine games in the Premier League and could seek more playing time elsewhere. At Arsenal, with Aaron Ramsey destined to leave and Mesut Ozil failing to impress Emery, Mata might just find a spot in the Emirates Stadium starting eleven.

At the moment, Mata and his team-mates are gearing up for a trip to the Emirates Stadium on Friday. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's unbeaten start will come under another tricky test when they lock horns with Aubameyang and Co. in the FA Cup fourth round.
