Real Madrid defender Ricardo Carvalho has stated that Real Madrid will be aiming for a victory in the Champions league clash with Lyon
Real Madrid have not progressed beyond the second round in the UEFA Champions League for the last six years. However, hopes are high among the Madrid fans that they would be able to progress further this season and they need to do that by beating Lyon first.

Ricardo Carvalho, who won the Champions League with Porto in 2004, believes that they have the squad to beat Lyon on Tuesday night.

"We know the importance of this event for the club and the players," the 32-year-old told UEFA.com. "We will try to score a goal and get a good result before the return game.

"We are confident because we are in a positive period, in particular at home. If we want to qualify, we can't be satisfied with only one good game at this stage of the competition.

"We have to do well [in Lyon] and be efficient during the return game," he concluded.

Real Madrid will be hoping that Ricardo Carvalho will be able to marshal the defence and keep the Lyon attackers at bay throughout the match.
