After months of negotiation, Los Blancos have secured the signature of the City protege.

Real Madrid has officially announced the signing of Manchester City prodigy Brahimi Diaz. The young Spaniard penned a six-and-a-half-year contract and is expected to complete his medical on Monday, January 7.

Diaz had just six months remaining on his Manchester City contract and having opted against signing a new deal, the club sanctioned his sale to avoid letting him leave as a free agent. As a result, he joins Santiago Solari's side in a deal worth an initial £15.5 million fee, with potential £6.5 million add-ons.

A clause in the contract cites a 15-per-cent sell-on fee although it rises to 40 percent if Manchester United signs the youngster in the future. Upon completing his medical on Monday, Diaz will be presented at the Santiago Bernabeu in the afternoon and will address the press later in the day.

The official statement from Real Madrid on the player's signing reads as follow: "Real Madrid C. F. and Manchester City have reached an agreement over the transfer of Brahim Díaz, who joins the club for the remainder of this season and the next six campaigns, until 30 June 2025.

"After completing his medical, which will take place tomorrow, Monday 7 January, the player will be unveiled at 1:30 pm CET in the presidential box at the Santiago Bernabéu.

"Brahim will then set foot on the Santiago Bernabéu pitch for the first time in a Real Madrid C. F. shirt, before addressing the press in the media room."

Brahimi Diaz joins the likes of Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo as the newest teenage recruits as Real Madrid aims to establish a formidable future core with the old stars fading out soon.
