Manchester United defender has given the Red Devils a major boost ahead of their Champions League second round clash with Olympique Marseille by signing a new deal at Old Trafford.
Manchester United defender has put all his transfer rumors and speculation to bed by signing a new contract extension with the Premier League giants. The new deal will see Evra, 29; remain at Old Trafford until 2014 at least.

The new deal will now end the speculation of a summer move to Real Madrid. Real manager Jose Mourinho has previously admitted his interest in the French left back. But with the new deal at Old Trafford done and dusted, Evra looks set to finish his career with Manchester United.

Evra has already won three Premier League titles, three League cup titles and one Champions League title with Manchester United. But the Frenchman is adamant that his hunger for silverware has not been satisfied yet.

''Ever since I arrived at United, it's been a dream come true playing here,'' he said. ''The fans, the players, the manager and the staff all work hard to make this club the best in the world.

''I have won a lot in the last five years, but I want to win more and I know that's the mentality of everyone here.''

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has paid tribute to the Frenchman's influence in the team and believes that Evra is one the best left-backs in the world.

''Patrice is unquestionably one of the world's best left-backs,'' said the Scot. ''He has developed into a key character in the dressing room and it is great that he has committed himself to the club. His experience and skill will be increasingly important to us.''

This boost could not have come at a better time as Sir Alex prepares to take his side to France for a Champions League second round clash with Olympique Marseille. Patrice Evra will almost certainly receive a hostile reception after his antics during last summer's FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
