Why Mou's job at Man United is safe...for now

Manchester United's reasons for not sacking Mourinho revealed

December 17, 2018 By Oscar Rojas
With fans and experts demanding a course correction, Manchester United execs are still backing the under-fire Portuguese boss.

Jose Mourinho may be disliked by a majority of Manchester United's fans, but his bosses are ready to stick by him through thick and thin for now.

The Portuguese boss has made fans grow tired of the team's constant woes, but there are a number of reasons for the Red Devils' execs to think twice about his sacking.

The loss against Liverpool seemed like the perfect opportunity to sack the former Chelsea boss, but even if the team is currently 19 points away from the league leaders and 11 points behind the fourth place in the English top flight, a report by the Mirror explains why Man United will stick with Mourinho no matter what.

According to such report, the first reason is the team's form in the UEFA Champions League. Facing PSG gives Manchester United some hope of reaching the next stage, and the team's hierarchy believes that changing coaches with several months left is not the right thing to do.

The second argument for Manchester United execs to stick by Mourinho is simple: there is not so much talent out there. Ed Woodward and his team believe that the right coach for the Red Devils will not be found with an ongoing EPL campaign, and an eventual change could take place in May or June, when more coaches will be able or willing to join the club.

Lastly, the main option available is not that convincing to Manchester United's execs. Even though Zinedine Zidane has made himself available to the club, the Red Devils' bosses believe that Zidane may not repeat his success at the Bernabeu with the English club, mainly because he doesn't have a past as a club legend.

All things said, Mourinho may end up being sacked during the 2018-19 season, but such an event will not take place before the UEFA Champions League tie against PSG. Zinedine Zidane faced a similar scenario last season and ended up winning that title. Will Mourinho do the same at Old Trafford?
