Los Xeneizes did all they could to win this game on the table, but the championship will be handed to whoever wins at the Bernabeu on Sunday.

The second leg of the Copa Libertadores final will be played, even if one of the teams involved tried hard not to do so.

Boca Juniors filed a motion to have Sunday's game against River cancelled, but CONMEBOL and the Court of Arbitrage in Sports decided that there was no reason to punish Los Millonarios for their fans' behavior.

Boca felt it fair to ask for the same punishment handed to them three years ago, when River players were attacked by Boca fans with pepper spray. Back then, CONMEBOL decided to kick Los Xeneizes out of the competition by handing River a 3-0 win on the table. Eventually, River went on to win the title.

Both CONMEBOL and the Swiss court ruled against them. With that, the controversial match set to be held at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on Sunday will be played. CONMEVBOL's decision to slap River with a $400,000 fine and have them playing two games without their supporters on their stands will remain as the sole punishment to the incidents that forced this game to be postponed and taken away from the Monumental Stadium.
