Luka Modric has been officially won the 2018 Ballon D'Or, and while some might think that Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo deserved to extend their dominance for one more year in this ceremony, the Croatian footballer had nothing but kind words for all the nominees or the previous winners of this award.
Visibly moved when handed the trophy and while listening to a taped message by his family, Modric admitted that this trophy is a sign of all the good work he put up during the year.
"It's a unique feeling and an honor. It's hard to put all my emotions into words. Let me thank my team-mates and coaches at Real Madrid, as well as those who play and coach me in Croatia's National Team. I also want to mention my family, my wife and kids. They complete me as a person and help me through thick and thin," Modric stated.

"I must have done something special to win this award this year. As a kid I only dreamt about playing for a great team and to win trophies. This is by far a dream come true," Modric added.
One of the reactions that stood out the most was that from Modric's father. Visibly moved, Stipe Modric had a hard time holding back his tears when speaking about his son's accomplishments in a video.
"My son, I am the happiest and proudest father in the world. You are my genies, I can't find the words," Stipe Modric said in the footage released by France Football.
