Alvaro Negredo has assured fans that Sevilla will showcase a top performance against Porto tonight. The striker hopes that home advantage will play the trick against the Dragons.
Alvaro Negredo spoke to the press in the build up to Thursday night’s huge Europa League match against Porto. The striker is aware of Sevilla’s unconvincing form in La Liga, but his confidence hasn’t been affected. Explaining matters, Negredo declared:

“These types of games are where you see the best of Sevilla. We are only thinking about winning and getting a good result for the return leg, which will be more difficult.

“We know that the tie doesn't finish after 90 minutes. We know that we have another game after that and that we have to be calm, cool and collected. The best news would be to keep a clean sheet at home and then trust in the people up front.

Sevilla cannot compare their season with Porto’s. The Portuguese giants are a strong force domestically whereas Los Nervionense are struggling to reach their goals in La Liga. However, Negredo insists that fearing Porto because of their potential will be of no good to Sevilla as self-belief is important.

“Porto are very strong and physical in attack, with a lot of quality players,” the striker said.

“But we have to focus on ourselves and not look at our opponents. Porto are a huge club in their league and it's good that they respect us.

“They know they will come up against a great Sevilla, who are playing at home with the support of their fans.”

Porto are hoping to make a dream return to the city of Sevilla, where they won the UEFA Cup title back in 2003. But Negredo and company will try to prevent the Dragons from ruling at the Estadio Sanchez Ramon Pizjuan.
