Six stats from last three Camp Nou Clasico

El Clasico: Six interesting stats from the last three Camp Nou clashes

October 26, 2018 By Ali M.
Real Madrid will make the trip to Barcelona on Sunday. Here are a few eye-catching figures from their last three visits.

El Clasico is right around the corner. Barcelona is gearing up to host Real Madrid in a highly-anticipated clash on Sunday.

However, with both Messi (injured) and Cristiano Ronaldo (gone to Juventus) not featuring, it will be a strange encounter. Nonetheless, it promises to be a thriller given how Los Blancos' last three trips to the Blaugrana have unfolded.

Madrid fans are well aware of the fact that Ramos and Co. are undefeated in those three trips, drawing twice and winning once in that unforgettable Spanish Super Cup triumph. However, there are more interesting stats than meets the eye. Here are four other standout figures.

Suarez has been influential... very influential

A lot has been said about Luis Suarez and his below-par goalscoring form recently. However, he has been influential in the last three home Clasicos in all competitions.

The Uruguayan has scored two goals and assisted one in those Camp Nou matches. With Messi injured for the upcoming clash, the Blaugrana will look to the former Liverpool forward to continue that form.

But who has scored the most in those three Camp Nou clashes?

In terms of goals, it's a three-way tie between Suarez, Messi, and Cristiano. All three of those attackers scored two goals in those ties. However, Luis holds a slight advantage, having one assist under his belt while the other two have zero. We give this one to the Uruguayan.

Who has been the standout playmaker?

Since Neymar assisted the opening goal in the first of the last three Camp Nou encounters, nine other goals have been scored. However, no player has assisted more than once, with only Suarez and Sergi Roberto setting up goals for the home side in that period.

Sending offs

Real Madrid may boast the most sent-off player in the form of Sergio Ramos, but in terms of red cards in the last three encounters in Catalonia, things are evenly split.

For Los Blancos, that man was Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese ace was infamously given his marching orders in the Spanish Super Cup for diving and then shoved the referee in response. For Barcelona, the unflattering honor goes to Sergi Roberto in the last Clasico for his attack on Marcelo.

Which team has been booked the most?

The Madrid giant beats their rival in this department. A total of 22 yellow cards were shown in the aforementioned three games, with 12 being given to Los Merengues players.

Has anyone scored an own goal in that time?

Yes, only one. That man is none other than Gerard Pique. The Spaniard will now partner Lenglet at center-back for the weekend showdown.
