Neymar blasts ref after being booked for diving

Neymar reacts against ref after being booked for diving

September 12, 2018 By Oscar Rojas
The Brazilian ace led A Canarinha to a comfortable 5-0 win against El Salvador, but that doesn't mean he had a pleasant evening altogether.

At long last, a referee found the nerve to book Neymar, and the footballer did not like that one bit.

The Brazilian player scored the first of five goals for A Canarinha in yesterday's goalscoring fiesta at FedEx Field, but as the first half whistle approached, he tried to get a second penalty. Referee Jair Marrufo did not fall for his antics, and decided to book the footballer instead.

After the game concluded, Neymar voiced his discomfort against the American ref, especially since he believed that challenge should not have forced Marrufo to search his pocket for the yellow card. Why? Because El Salvador's players "got tired" of fouling him up to that point.

The guy comes here to officiate a Brazilian national team match, which is a very big selection, and he does that ... I don't think it is correct. If he does not want to give the penalty, it's not a problem, but the card is unnecessary. It's a lack of respect, not just to me, but to my teammates as well," Neymar told Globo Esporte.

The player admitted growing tired of the reputation he earned after the World Cup, where he was mocked by his extreme reactions when being tackled.

"I do not know what I have to do to live with it [this reputation], there's no way I'm going to stand for a situation like this. I think it has to end," the footballer added.

This wasn't the only incident in which Neymar's diving antics came to light, as one of the USMNT defenders tried to avoid getting booked for a foul against Neymar on Friday by asking the ref if he hadn't watched how Neymar had behaved at the World Cup.

What really stands out is that there are some referees that are not willing to put up with the player's antics anymore, which means that the footballer may have to think twice before overreacting when he gets floored in any given game.
