South Korean ace Heung-Min Son had to lead his country to a victory in any of this summer's competitions...

At long last, those tears from Heung-Min Son after their World Cup loss against Mexico will no longer have an effect.

The South Korean ace needed to lead his country to a medal in the FIFA World Cup or in the Asian Games, and he managed to do so today, when South Korea defeated Japan in extra time to win the competition with a 2-1 score.

Son wasn't able to score today for the Taeguk Warriors, but he was quite influential during the whole tournament. With that in mind, the wingman will not have to put his football career on hold, as he was made a promise by the South Korean president, which stated that he would not have to complete his mandatory two-year military service if he led the team to some silverware.

This should be a boost for Tottenham's coach, Mauricio Pochettino, who will now have a full squad to choose from once Son returns to the team.
