Last night, Santos' fans caused their team's elimination from the Copa Libertadores, as they staged a riot inside the stadium with minutes left in the game. The Brazilian side had lost the first leg of the clash against Independiente with a 3-0. CONMEBOL decided that the Brazilian side had used midfielder Carlos Sánchez illegally, awarding the Argentine side with the win.

Tuesday's clash was a tough game, with the ref having to call over 50 fouls. Santos tried to cut their disadvantage, but their strikers weren't able to make a difference. Fans grew increasingly tired of this situation and decided to burst into the pitch.

CONMEBOL execs are yet to decided if Santos will be handed a ban from the competition, considering their previous punishments when such incidents take place. Be that as it may, it's unacceptable to see fans storm into the pitch when things don't go their team's way.
