Man City receives De Bruyne boost after suffering knee injury in training

August 17, 2018 By Ali M.
The Belgian ace suffered an injury in training and has been tipped to spend a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Man City began their title defense in perfect fashion but it didn't take too long for their campaign to be hit with an early blow. Before the team's second Premier League game of the season, Kevin de Bruyne suffered a knee injury that looks to sideline him for a while.

The Citizens ace picked up this knock during a training session, with worrying uncertainty quickly arising. However, after undergoing tests, things are not as bad as initially feared.

According to HLN, the 27-year-old will not require surgery. The Belgian newspaper claims that the playmaker will still likely be out for two months, but undergoing an operation could have resulted in a longer layoff.

De Bruyne has gone to Barcelona to undergo treatment but he will miss a number of key games, nonetheless. The Belgian began the 2-0 opening day victory over Arsenal on the bench and appears destined to watch upcoming clashes with Liverpool, Tottenham, and Man United from the stands.

Guardiola's side may be more equipped to cope with Kevin's absence, with the likes of Bernardo Silva and Phil Foden impressing lately. Nonetheless, was at the heart of Man City's record-breaking campaign, scoring 12 and assisting 21 in all competitions.
