The Belgian goalkeeper is MIA as his side gears up for the start of the English Premier League.

Chelsea's Thibaut Courtois has once again stirred up transfer speculation after failing to show up at training. According to BBC, his side does not know when he will be joining his teammates with them set to kick-off this season's Premier League campaign against Huddersfield Town on Saturday.

The ex-Atletico Madrid shot-stopper, alongside teammate Eden Hazard, was granted an extended vacation period having helped Belgium to the bronze medal at the 2018 FIFA World Cup. However, the return of the latter to camp on Monday while his compatriot remains absent caused a few eyebrows to rise.

Thibaut Courtois, in recent times, has expressed his desire to exit the London club and is reportedly on the radar of Real Madrid in this transfer window. With the Spanish outfit yet to lodge an official bid for his service, it remains unclear whether a move in this transfer window is possible.

Chelsea, on the other hand, is reportedly adamant to do business with very limited time left to sign a capable replacement as the transfer in England officially closes on August 9. However, the new manager of the side, Maurizio Sarri, insisted that he was unsure as to whether Courtois will stay at Chelsea this season.

"At the moment Courtois is the goalkeeper of Chelsea," he stated on Friday in a presser ahead of his side's Community Shield clash with Manchester City.

I don't know in the future. It depends on the club, it depends especially on him, but I hope Courtois will be our goalkeeper."
