The Belgian defender is on the verge of becoming a Red Devil.

Manchester United could complete their fourth signing of the summer with the acquisition of Toby Alderweidereld. According to Mirror, the Old Trafford outfit could make the move official in the next 48 hours after reaching an agreement on the transfer fee with Tottenham Hotspur.

Jose Mourinho side will reportedly pay 60 million pounds for the service of the player whom the club identified as a top priority signing following the end of the 2017/2018 season. It is believed that the deal could have been completed earlier but Manchester United was adamant to meet Spurs’ 75 million pounds valuation of the 29-year-old.

Toby Alderweireld played a somewhat sporadic role for the White Hart Lane outfit last season after he refused to extend his contract. The defender, as a result, lost his starting berth to Davinson Sanchez who formed a center-back partnership with Jan Vertongen. With his heart set on a departure, club chairman Daniel Levy decided that the best resolution would be to sell the Alderweireld in this transfer window.

Jose Mourinho recently hinting at the arrival of one more player, and the 29-year-old’s signing will possibly wrap up Manchester United’s dealings although many expected the club to recruit more players. Speculations about Harry Maguire’s acquisition has died down in recent times but the Red Devils are still being linked with moves for Barcelona’s Yerry Mina and Juventus’ Alex Sandro with less than a week for the transfer window to officially close in England.
