Sir Alex Ferguson believes that all Manchester United need is another 30 points and they will clinch the Premier League title.
Manchester United face Wolverhampton this weekend at Molineaux. If United win, they will record a new club record of being unbeaten for 30 games.

However, Sir Alex prefers to look at the bigger picture and he believes that 84 points could be enough for the Red Devils to triumph. That actually means that United need 30 points from their remaining 14 games.

“It’s about getting enough points to get over the line,” he said. “I think 84 points would definitely win it, so we have 30 points to find.”

Sir Alex has compared his current side to the 199 Treble winning side and says that the current squad has all the same quality and characteristics when compared with the historic squad.

“The character of the team has been well established,” he added. “Of course we have young players throughout the club, with people like Chicharito [Javier Hernandez], but the main body of players has been here a long time.

“They know there are some games where they have to find a solution to problems the opposition give them. We never give in – it’s a great quality.

“And their perseverance and ability to find solutions have got better as the team have got older.

“The consistency we’ve shown in the past couple of months has been very good. That’s the thing that gives them the extra yard or belief in situations we’ve found ourselves in the past couple of weeks. If we can show the same sort of consistency towards the end of the season that we’ve shown over the past two months, we’re in with a chance.

“And they trust each other. They look around the dressing room and there are some good pros there. They see battle-hardened players who have been round the course many times and we’re going to need that during the run-in.”

With Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotpsurs all facing a tricky tie with Liverpool, Newcastle and Bolton respectively, the clash at Molineaux is a game United cannot afford to drop points.
