All the speculations have finally been put to bed.

Speculations surrounding the future of Barcelona's Samuel Umtiti has been buried after the defender agreed a new five-year deal with the Spanish giants. The 24-year-old defender has been linked with a move away from the club as recent reports cited that Manchester United was ready to pay his 52 million euros buyout fee.

However, on Sunday, the website of the Catalans confirmed that the Frenchman has committed his long-term future to the club.

"Barcelona and the player Samuel Umtiti have reached an agreement for the renewal of a contract that will bind both parties for the next five seasons," a statement on the website read.

"The act of signing will take place Monday, at 10am in the Camp Nou, and later the player will speak to the media. A great piece of news for the Barcelona fans, Samuel Umtiti will continue to wear the Cule shirt until 2023."

Umtiti is currently with the French national team who will kick-start their quest at the upcoming World Cup in a Group C encounter vs Australia on June 18. The defender has featured in a total of 79 matches for Barcelona since moving from Lyon in 2016.
