Preview

Atleti ended up in the Europa League after finishing third in their quartet, behind surprise group winners Roma and runners up Chelsea. Since dropping down into Europe's second-tier competition, Los Rojiblancos have done quite well and have been largely unstoppable, although they did have to work hard to see off a very tough opponent in Arsenal during an interesting semi-final contest.

Now, they are just 90 minutes away from making it a third Europa League title - a trophy which Sevilla had monopolized over the past few seasons - with just Marseille standing in their way. Interestingly, this season, both Madrid-based clubs are on the cusp of being both crowned champions of Europe, with Atleti potentially winning the Europa League whilst their cross-town rivals will be involved in a exciting clash with Liverpool in Kiev in less than a fortnight's time.

Meanwhile, Marseille survived a tough tie against a plucky Salzburg side to book their ticket to the final. It wasn't without controversy, however, as they grabbed a late goal following a corner kick that should have actually been an awarded goal kick to their opponents to win the tie on away goals. That came after falling two goals behind to force the second leg to extra time. In any case, regardless of the result, they now have a chance to make history on Wednesday. But will they be able to get the job done against Atletico Madrid?
