Preview

Sevilla come into this game still disappointed from their results from last weekend. Vincenzo Montella's side thought they were going to become the first team to end Barcelona's unbeaten run this term, only to see the Blaugrana fight back to earn two goals thanks to a masterful performance from Lionel Messi. The Argentinian superstar was actually left on the bench for most of the game in order to keep him fresh ahead of Barcelona's tie with Roma, but was involved in both goals to keep Ernesto Valverde's squad on track.

Key midfielder Ever Banega is suspended for this match, making things more difficult for the hosts, but they're hoping to count on two factors. The first is their excellent home record against German opposition, where they've won seven and drawn four. The second is Bayern's struggles in Spain as of late, where they've lost their last five matches.

Meanwhile, Bayern cruised to a 6-0 win over Dortmund in last weekend's Klassiker clash and are inching closer to clinching yet another Bundesliga crown. With domestic affairs pretty much sewn up, however, Jupp Heynckes has turned his attention to helping die Roten finally end their five year wait for the Champions League. The veteran tactician was on the bench back in 2013 when Bayern became the first German side to win the coveted Treble and would obviously aim to sign off by achieving the same feat.

However, Bayern's struggles in Spain are a major issue. Die Roten will certainly be wary of their upcoming opponents, who managed to beat Manchester United in the round 16 - and in that contest, Sevilla were also viewed as the underdogs. For the last four seasons, Bayern's Champions League hopes have been dashed by Spanish opposition - whether it be Barcelona, Real Madrid, or Atletico Madrid.

Robert Lewandowski, Joshua Kimmich, Corentin Tolisso, Jerome Boateng and Sebastian Rudy will all have to be careful here, as they're just one card away from being suspended, while Manuel Neuer will again miss out as he continues his recovery from injury.

So, will Bayern be able to end their Spanish hoodoo? Or will Sevilla's impressive run continue to the next stage?
