The Derby Della Madonnina which was postponed due to Davide Astori's tragic death is almost upon us.

The match will be played at the San Siro this Wednesday and its significance has tripled if it wasn't before. Both sides, alongside Lazio, are all in contention to secure qualification into next season’s UEFA Champions League with just eight matches left to be played.

Although seven points separate 6th-placed AC Milan and 4th-placed Internazionale, the Rossoneri are reluctant to give up the chase considering they have a game in-hand bar the upcoming game. Shot-stopper of AC Milan, Gianluigi Donnarumma, has likened the encounter to the UEFA Champions League play-off and is relishing his side's chances of securing the win.

“We are disappointed with that result, but we fought Juve on level terms until the final minutes,” Donnarumma expressed in an interview with Milan TV after his side's defeat to Juventus.

“We take home a great performance, but not a result, despite the many scoring opportunities. They won it on a physical level, not a technical one, punishing us in a situation where we should’ve done better.

“Now we look forward to what is effectively a Champions League play-off with Inter. I hope there is a great deal of enthusiasm at San Siro.

"We’ll give our all and need our fans to win the game.”

While AC Milan enters the match at the back of a 3-1 defeat to Juventus, Inter will be boosted by their 3-0 win over Hellas Verona.
