The Portuguese skipper was mobbed by fans while his side’s friendly with the Netherlands progressed.

A scene like this is not the least surprising if Cristiano Ronaldo is around but, this time, the timing was relatively odd. It was pretty much a night to forget for the Real Madrid superstar and his compatriots as three first-half goals by Holland placed them directly on the path to defeat.

To culminate the woes of the Euro 2016 winners, defender Joao Cancelo was sent off after meriting another yellow card in the second half of the encounter. Soon afterward, multiple fans sprinted onto the field of play, approached Cristiano Ronaldo, and attempted to hug the forward - with one managing to take a selfie with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.

Cristiano Ronaldo maintained a calm demeanor and his mid-game visitors were shortly apprehended by the stewards. The game subsequently ended with the same scoreline as the first half after the former Manchester United man and his teammates failed to cancel either of Depay, Babel and Van Dijk's goals.
