Roque Santa Cruz has completed his transfer from Manchester City to Blackburn Rovers. The Paraguayan striker is back at Ewood Park on a loan deal after a miserable period at Man City.
Roque Santa Cruz has become Blackburn’s first signing of the month. The 29-year-old could renew his football at the club as early as on Sunday when his side will play away to Chelsea.

Roque Santa Cruz was a fan favourite during his 2-year spell at Ewood Park, enjoying 70 appearances and scoring 29 goals in the process. The Paraguayan then followed ex-Blackburn Rovers boss Marc Hughes at Manchester City in 2009.

However, his move soon turned out to be a nightmare as he made it only 6 times in Man City’s starting XI in the English Premier League; lack of match fitness, injuries and strong competition among the club’s forwards were simply too hard for Roque Santa Cruz to overcome.

Upon the player’s return to Ewood Park, current Blackburn coach Steve Kean was reported as saying by ESPN Soccernet:

“When he was here the first time, he had a fantastic time and he showed his quality. I think he feels that he’s got a little bit of business to finish.

“Hopefully, he’ll go and do that until the end of the season. He’s got an infectious personality and he was very popular here first time around.

“I’m sure that he will be too this time. He is coming back to a place that was special to him and I’m sure that he is going to deliver as good if not better.”

Roque Santa Cruz may have the opportunity to face Chelsea this weekend. Will he be able to inspire Blackburn Rovers to a positive result with a spirited performance against the Blues?
