Arsenal were surprisingly humbled by a goal to nil at the Portman Road in the Carling Cup against Ipswich on January 12, but Cesc Fabregas has yet to accept Arsenal’s defeat as a fair one.
The Gunners had most of the possession, and they visibly appeared as the better side. At the end of the day though, it was the minnows who got the advantage in the first leg of their semifinals encounter; but Captain Cesc Fabregas is far from seeing Ipswich’s victory over Arsenal as a deserved one.

“I don’t know if it is (a) long ball or (if) it is a rugby kick, but it worked for them (Ipswich),” Fabregas was quoted saying by Telegraph. “In England, there a lot of teams who play like that and it works for them.

“They create chances like that, and it is their football. Arsenal made the football, but the other team refused to play football… they were lucky to score in a long ball.

“I can only remember 2 opportunities for them; but it was from a long, long ball because (as we were) playing football, they couldn’t really get behind us. It’s a bit disappointing because I think we were the much better team. I think we were good enough, but just did not put the ball in the net.”

Arsenal and Ipswich face each other again on January 25 at the Emirates Stadium. The winner of this match will meet either Birmingham or West Ham United in the Carling Cup final.
