Arsenal will make it 6 years in a row without silverware if they fail to win anything this season. However, Bendtner believes that the Ipswich Town vs Arsenal Carling Cup match could be the source of other ideas.
On Wednesday night, Arsenal will clash against Ipswich in the first leg of their Carling Cup semi-final tie. The Gunners have a great chance of progressing onto the final and eventually win the competition as lower teams West Ham United and Birmingham City contest the other semi-final tie.

Since their 2005 FA Cup triumph over Manchester United, Arsenal haven’t achieved cup glory. Ahead of tomorrow’s fixture, Nicklas Bendtner is hopeful for a better future. The Denmark international told Clubcall:

“We need to make sure that we go there [against Ipswich] and that we keep our run going. For me, we’ve got to get to the final of the Carling Cup.

“It would be fantastic to win a trophy early on in the season, and then to have something to show for our work already.

“Last season, Manchester United won it [the Carling Cup], and they went on to take the English Premier League title too. Let’s hope that we can do the same.”

Arsenal are 3rd in the league and 4 points behind the Red Devils who have played a game less than the Gunners. However, unlike Manchester United, Arsenal are still in the Carling Cup – which means that they could clinch a title at last as early as on February 27.
