Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is under some pressure for lifting no silverware at all in the last five years, this competition provides Wenger with an opportunity to end that barren run. After being held to a draw by Championship outfit Leeds United at the weekend in the FA Cup, the Gunners will be hoping to fire their way to a Wembley Stadium final in this tie.

Ipswich will be led by Ian McParland, who will be taking charge of his last game as caretaker manager before Paul Jewell takes the reins. McParland has took charge for a brutal pair of opponents, with this game coming hot on the heels of Sunday’s 7-0 FA Cup demolition at the hands of Chelsea.

Jake Livermore and Rory Fallon will be out for Ipswich as they are cup-tied, while Grant Leadbitter is suspended. Gareth McAuley looks set to play despite struggling with a hamstring injury.

Sebastien Squillaci joined a growing injury list in the Arsenal defense when he aggravated his hamstring at the weekend. Thomas Vermaelen is a long-term absentee for the Gunners while Bacary Sagna is suspended.
