The future of Chelsea boss Antonio Conte remains up in the air. The Italian, who won the hearts of Blues fans by winning the Premier League in his debut season, is now unhappy at Stamford Bridge and it shows from their results.
As a result, he has been linked with an exit despite insisting he will fulfill his contract. One man who is high up Roman Abramovich is Diego Simeone; however, the Argentine tactician appears to have slammed the door on a London move.
According to the Times, talks have occurred between the Atletico Madrid boss and the London giant through intermediaries. Unfortunately for Abramovich’s side, the South American manager has informed the club that he has no desire to leave the Spanish capital.
Simeone’s contract with Los Rojiblancos, which he vows to fulfill, runs until June 2020. If he was to leave Wanda Metropolitano, the 47-year-old’s preferred destination would be Italy.
However, he is not keen on a move to England. El Cholo does not see himself settling in the UK, with his knowledge of the language also being an issue.
The Times’ report, though, claims that Simeone’s stance on a Premier League move could change if Man United comes knocking on the door. The Argentine reportedly turned down the Old Trafford back in 2014 when they were looking for a replacement for Moyes,
Chelsea, who will be in action in the English top-flight on Monday against Watford, is now looking at Luis Enrique. The former Barcelona boss is available after leaving his job at Camp Nou last summer.
