Cristiano Ronaldo has been crowned the “best football player ever” by Portuguese football agent Jorge Mendes. Ronaldo—according to him—surpasses Lionel Messi, Pele, and obviously, Diego Maradona.
The man, who has already had both fellow-Portuguese personalities Jose Mourinho and Cristiano Ronaldo, easily placed the winger above any other legend in the history of football. Speaking to Expresso, Mendes justified his declaration by saying:

“I think this is thanks to his speed, his great technique and his power in the air. People will agree with me over time.”

Mendes then briefly acknowledged the talent of the FIFA Ballon d’Or 2010 award contender Lionel Messi, but went on to pour the rest of his praises on the world’s most expensive player: “Messi is a great player, I have no doubt about that,” he said.

“But the strength of will, character and quality distinguish him (Cristiano Ronaldo). He has now been joined by (Jose Mourinho) the best coach of all time, too.”

It is unknown if Mendes simply selected two Portuguese as his best football stars out of patriotism, but in any case, he sounded resolute. Cristiano Ronaldo and Jose Mourinho will both be in action later in the day in the Real Madrid vs Villarreal match, as they look on to stay on track for La Liga title this season.
