Manchester City finally sealed Edin Dzeko’s transfer from Wolfsburg on Friday night. Dzeko is set to remain a Sky Blue until 2015 following his €32.5M move.
In midweek, Edin Dzeko was expected to officially become a Manchester City player in a matter of hours. However, visa issues delayed his transfer which explain why it was only on Friday that the 24-year-old completed it. Sharing comments with the public and the media, Edin Dzeko stated on Manchester City’s website:

“It’s been a long time since I’ve been linked with the club. It goes back to last summer, actually. But, Wolfsburg didn’t want to sell me until today.

“There was too much speculation in the news but my head is always clear. The important thing is that you don’t think too much about what might distract you as it can affect your game.

“I was always attracted most to joining City. They’ve been playing well this season.

“I’ve watched them on TV a lot. Now, the speculation is over and I just want to do my best.”

Edin Dzeko also went on to defend Manchester City’s status as so-called big money spenders without history. The Bosnian striker declared:

“Everybody speaks about City having a lot of money, but it’s not about that. It’s about ambition and I’ve spoken to Coach Roberto Mancini and he told me, ‘this is the best club for you’.

“Manchester City are playing for the first place in the English Premier League, and that’s what I want. I’m excited to play alongside players like Tevez and Toure whom I’ve only seen on the television and to be in the same team as players I’ve played against like [Jerome] Boateng and Kompany.

“They’ll help me to achieve my goal to be better in future. I want to show the fans why the club paid the money for me. Everyone expects goals and I want to score, but most of all, I want to contribute to the success of the team.”

Manchester City will play away to Leicester City on Sunday afternoon and Edin Dzeko could already make his debut for the club. This FA Cup fixture could mark a great start to the Bosnian’s career at Eastlands.
