The Serbian midfielder could run into a tense atmosphere on Sunday, since he left The Blues this summer to join Manchester United,

After four seasons playing for Chelsea, Nemanja Matic has no regrets about leaving the club to join Manchester United. With that in mind, the player expects a not-so-harsh welcome when he visits his old club on Sunday.

Speaking after Tuesday's UEFA Champions League win against Benfica, Matic remembered his time at Stamford Bridge fondly, and he expects fans at the stadium to do the same thing when he steps into the pitch.

"I don’t know. When I played there I always gave 100%. I’m sure they respect that but if not I don’t really care," Matic stated.

"I feel when I played there, I showed them my quality. We won the title twice and also two cups, so I don’t have to prove to them anything. I just have to prove something to my new club," the player added.

The midfielder won two Premier League titles with the Blues, one of them under Mourinho's command.

The player dismissed the idea of an easy game for Manchester United, considering the struggles Conte's men have dealt with this season.

"We know we must respect them. They are a good team, they’re champions and it’s going to be a hard game for us, but we also have our own qualities," Matic concluded.
