Man United are eager to add a midfielder who could replace the aging Michael Carrick. Mourinho was keen on reuniting with Nemanja Matic, but landing the Serbian required Chelsea wrapping up the Bakayoko deal.
Monaco are eager to cash in on the Frenchman as soon as possible, and have grown frustrated with Chelsea’s slow business. Should Man United fail to land Matic, they will turn their attention to Conte’s target.
