In a brief press release, the Gunners announced the record-breaking transfer after years in pursuit of the striker.

Years after demanding a top striker, Arsenal fans will finally have what they wanted. Today, Arsene Wenger stepped up and announced the signing of 26-year old striker Alexandre Lacazette, following years of pursuit to sing the French international.

Speaking to the club's website, Wenger admitted being delighted about welcoming one more compatriot to the Gunners.

"We are very happy to have Alexandre join our group. He has shown over a number of years that he can score goals and that he is a very efficient finisher. As well, he has very interesting technical qualities and a strong character. So he is a guy who is a great addition for us," Wenger stated.

Lacazette, who had one of the best goal conversion rates last season, revealed that one of Arsenal's legends made him want to play for the Gunners when he was growing up.

"Throughout my childhood, thanks to Thierry Henry and other French players, I always dreamed of playing for this club so today that dream has been fulfilled," the player told the team's website.

Although details of Lacazette's deal with the club were not revealed, sources claim that Arsenal spent £52M to sign the player, breaking the club's record of £50M paid to sign Mesut Özil a couple of years ago.

Without further ado, here are Lacazette's first pictures as a Gunner.
