The CONCOCAF Gold Cup is upon us. The 2017 edition kick starts on Friday, July 7, and will continue until the 26th before a champion is crowned.
This will be the 14th edition of the biennial competition between the confederation’s best sides. Mexico, the defending champions, head into this tournament with only one objective: retain the title.
However, El Tri will face stiff competition. Hosts United States will go in search of a sixth Gold Cup, but they aren’t Mexico’s only competition.
A total of 12 nations will compete in the tournament – 10 excluding favorites Mexico and the Stars and Stripes. Honduras and Costa Rica are present to challenge, whilst minnows French Guiana, Martinique, and Nicaragua are hoping to cause a few upsets.
Here are all 12 participants in the Gold Cup 2017: United States, Mexico, Canada, Honduras, Panama, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Curaçao, Jamaica, French Guiana, Martinique, and Nicaragua.
Before the competition enters the quarter-final stage, group stage matches will occur. The 12 participants have been split into three groups of four – Group A, Group B, and Group C.

As can be seen, the favorites all avoided being grouped together. Honduras, Costa Rica, and Canada battling it out in Group A will be exciting, however.
