The Chelsea ace picked up the injury during training with the national side ahead of their clash with Czech Republic.

Belgium and Chelsea – given that the Blues keep a hold of their star player – have received a huge blow, as Eden Hazard picked up an awful ankle injury whilst on international duty. The Belgian will undergo surgery and is expected to be out for three months.

The 26-year-old picked up this injury during training. The Premier League champion broke his ankle and is thus tipped to miss the start of next season.

This will be a huge disappointment for Roberto Martinez and the Red Devils. Hazard was to feature in an international friendly against Czech Republic before facing Estonia in a World Cup qualifier. His availability in the World Cup qualifying trip to Greece on September 3 is under doubt.

Hazard, who returned to his best in 2016/17 after a disappointing 2015/16 campaign, will have to watch the Community Shield clash with Arsenal from the stands. This injury could mean the end of a Stamford Bridge exit for the former Lille magician.

Hazard, a long-term target of Real Madrid, has been linked with a £100m move to Santiago Bernabeu. However, the 12-time Champions League winners will probably not break the transfer record for a player due to miss the pre-season.
