The Portuguese ace was present in two of the Frenchman's biggest heartbreaks, but Tuesday is another shot at payback.

One can be forgiven for believing that Antoine Griezmann has a picture of Cristiano Ronaldo in his room for dart practice. The Portuguese ace was present at two heartbreaking finals for the Atletico Madrid ace – in the Champions League and Euro 2016.

First Ronaldo scored the winning penalty, as Real Madrid beat Los Rojiblancos in Milan. Over a month later, Antoine then missed out on the European Championship to Cristiano’s Portugal.

When Real Madrid and Atletico face off in the Champions League semi-final, it will be a golden opportunity for the Bleus ace to get revenge on the 32-year-old. But will he? Here are his club stats from 2016/17.

Antoine Griezmann's stats

Played: 48

Scored: 25

Assisted: 11

Although the Frenchman has never been able to match the goalscoring heights of Cristiano and Messi, the Frenchman is still lagging behind this season. In La Liga, he is only the fifth highest scorer – behind Leo, Suarez, Ronaldo, and Iago Aspas.

In the Champions League, his tally of five strikes is only two behind Cristiano Ronaldo (7). Antoine’s assists tally is also nothing to boast about.

The Atletico Madrid ace, with the help of his team-mates, can knock out the four-time Ballon d’Or winner’s side. However, history is not on Los Rojiblancos side, as they have won only once against their neighbors in seven meetings.

Then there are the awards. Griezmann’s 2015/16 campaign was excellent, but he missed out on several individual awards due to Ronaldo’s superior season. The Frenchman was named the Best Player in La Liga and Euro 2016, but lost to The Best FIFA award and UEFA Best Player in Europe prize to his Real Madrid nemesis.

Unless Atletico win the Champions League, there is little chance of the former Real Sociedad man even being nominated for the biggest individual prizes. Beat Cristiano and Co. to make the Champions League final, however, and things could turn out different.
