Here is why Renato Sanches chose Bayern Munich over Manchester United last summer, according to the player himself.

Portuguese star Renato Sanches has revealed why he snubbed Manchester United last summer and chose Bayern Munich. The former Benfica man was the subject of numerous bids from the Old Trafford-based outfit and seemed headed to England.

But a last minute £30million offer from the Bavarians shocked millions of Man United faithfuls as the Euro 2016 winner took a transfer u-turn to the Allianz Arena. And speaking almost a year down the line, the 19-year-old explained why he snubbed the red devils. He is quoted by The Sun as saying:

“I had a good feeling about it right away when I heard about Bayern Munich’s interest.

“They really put in a lot of effort and I immediately got a feeling the people in charge believed in me as a player. That was the decisive factor behind my decision to join Bayern.

“Ancelotti always looks calm and in charge. You can just see he has a lot of experience. He is getting involved with his players a lot and is helping players to make individual progress.

“But I am also playing alongside a lot of world-class players here. I can learn from all of them, especially from the players who play in midfield like Arturo Vidal, Xabi Alonso and Thiago Alcantara.”

The teenage attacking midfielder has played 23 matches so far for the Bundesliga giants. But he has not found the back of the net in any of those.
