The King of Post added the last missing trophy to their showcase at the Libertadores de America, defeating Goias after 120 exciting minutes of Sudamericana football.
For the second time in the Copa Sudamericana Independiente came back from an away defeat in Avellaneda and upon defeating Goias 3-1, Mohammed's Devils lifted their 16th international title this Wednesday.

Maxi Velazquez opened the score for the hosts early in the first half, but Rafael Moura score the leveller minutes later. Facunda Parra's double in the first half sentenced a major victory for Independiente.

The victory has an added flavor as the Rojos qualify for the Copa Libertadores, taking the fifth place away from Racing Club, their eternal rival.

Goias was left empty-handed and will now have to confront relegation from the Brasileirao without pain killers.

All means justified Independiente's American success. Independiente's head coach Antonio Mohammed played the last three Apertura games with an alternative squad that have not done much to avoid the basement fight, occupying the 18th position with 14 points.

Goias -who won the first leg match 2-0 in Goiana- was overwhelmed by Independiente's attack from the very first minute. Goias' top striker Rafael Moura score a beautiful goal that could not stop Rojos' furious advance: in less than 10 minutes Independiente was already two goals ahead and desperate for more.

Diablos' goalkeeper Hilario Navarro played a major role in the development of the game. He nullified Goias' strikers with great success and gave the midfielders the needed confidence to pressure the Brazilian squad to its own area.

Without their top striker Nestor Silvera, Facundo Parra grew as the leader of the attack. He took advantage of a defensive mistake five minutes after the equalizer and score Rojos' third goal after a brilliant individual maneuver.

Independiente score the five penalties shot while Felipe missed Goias' third attempt to lift their first international title. Independiente's captain Eduardo Tuzzio score the winning goal and the stadium was flooded with the excitement of 44.000 people.
