The Reds are in trouble with the FA after attempting an illegal practice to sign a Stoke City youngster.

Liverpool return to action in the English Premier League on Saturday with an exciting clash with bitter rivals Everton. Ahead of that highly-anticipated Merseyside derby, the club are sweating over claims they will be slapped with a transfer ban.

Similarly to what happened in La Liga to Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, and Barcelona; the Reds could be slapped with a sanction for illegal means of trying to sign a youngsters.

According to the Telegraph, Liverpool allegedly “tapped up and offered a forbidden inducement” to a Stoke schoolboy. As a result, they are believed to be in negotiations with the Premier League over an agreed punishment which could see them banned from signing academy players.

The unnamed kid, a promising youth player at the Potters, had his schools fees paid by Stoke under his contract. Liverpool offered to pay for the boy’s tuition in a move to Anfield, which the 12-year-old and his family agreed to.

The Reds backed out of the deal after realizing that this practice is illegal under FA rules unless the Merseyside giants agreed to pay for all their kid’s education.

The promising Stoke youngster had already pulled out of his deal in favor of Liverpool, meaning his family could be in huge debt. Furthermore, the youngster cannot join another club until the Potters are paid £49,000 in compensation.
