Thierry Henry is one of the candidates earmarked for the Arsenal job if Arsene Wenger leaves in the summer.

He is considered to be one of Arsenal greatest players, if not the greatest. But can Thierry Henry transform from a legendary retired footballer to a great manager at his former club?

The Frenchman is the current assistant manager of the Belgium national football team under former Everton boss Roberto Martinez. Since their appointment, the Red Devils have played seven games, won four, drawn two and only one.

But Henry, 39, seems to be toying with the idea of becoming the next Gunners manager, even though he does not want to publicly admit it. In an interview with Canal +, the former Monaco man said:

"It doesn't depend on me, there are things to be respected, it's my club of heart but I do not have any right-wings.

"My name is quoted to succeed Wenger, I hear that. But it's hard for me to talk about it I have a lot of respect for everything the coach has done.

"Am I ready? I don't know and nobody knows, but I also need to learn my job."

Henry joined Arsenal in 1999 and left in 2007 having scored 228 goals and won the Premier League, FA Cup, and the Community Shield twice each. He added:

"I will not be a consultant all my life, but coaching is not my aim.

"I have not fixed any goal in the head, I will love it [be a coach] and I will do everything for it. But, right now, I'm in learning mode.''
