Here is now New York City FC compares to Montreal Impact in the new MLS season.

New York City play their MLS counterparts Montreal Impact on Saturday at the Yankee Stadium. This match is set to attract thousands of fans into the stadium, and millions of viewers across the the USA, Canada and the rest of the world. And even before they step onto the pitch for this epic battle, here's a quick look at how they compare so far this season.

Games played

The Pigeons opened their 2017 MLS account with a 1-0 defeat to rivals Orlando City in a sold out match at the newly-opened Orlando City stadium on March 4. They then hammered DC United 4-0 in their second game of the league.

On the other hand, the Impact started their campaign with a 1-0 defeat to San Jose Earthquakes, then settles for a 2-2 draw with Seattle Sounders. That's 1 defeat and 1 win for NYCFC, and 1 defeat and 1 draw for Montreal Impact.

Attacking capability

New York City have found the back of the net four times so far in their first two opening games. Former Barcelona man David Villa is their top goal scorer with two goals, while Rodney Wallace and Maximilliano Moralez have one each.

The Impact have only scored two goals so far this season - one from Ignacio Piatti and another from Matteo Mancosu. And now that Patrick Vieira's men will be playing at home, the Impact need to do something about their striking force or risk soaking in a sea of goals.

Defensive ability

NYCFC have only conceded one goal so far in this campaign, while their weekend opponents, Montreal Impact, have let three into their net. Based on these statistics, Vieira's men have the upper hand in this clash. But it is impossible to ignore how mighty the Impact are in the MLS. And now that they are yet to taste victory, we should expect them. The best prediction in this clash would be a draw.
