The French attacker has found first-team chances hard to come by at Old Trafford, and has thus been linked with an exit.

Anthony Martial has gone from the Golden Boy “next Thierry Henry” to a benchwarmer at Manchester United. Since Jose Mourinho’s arrival at Old Trafford, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been the go-to lone center-forward.

This means the former Monaco ace competes with Marcus Rashford for an unfavorable winger berth. Neither are exceeding in that role, but it’s the French attacker’s dip in form that is more outstanding.

Thus, rumors of an Old Trafford exit have spread. A January moved didn’t go through, with suitors now being dealt a blow in the race to sign Martial… by the player himself.

Speaking ahead of the St. Etienne game, the 21-year-old insisted that playing on the wing is nothing out of the ordinary. He said: “As long as I’m on the pitch, I feel happy and enjoy myself.”

"I try to be as good as possible to make them [Man United fans] happy, to satisfy them, so what I just want is to stay as long as possible at this club,” the Frenchman added.
