Italy’s Serie A is to go on strike in less than two weeks’ time. The players, who are unhappy about contractual issues, feel it’s time to make their voices heard.
The Italian Serie A is preparing to enter into its 15th match-day this weekend as AC Milan, Lazio, Juventus and Napoli occupy the first 4 places in the table. However, fans will have to deal with a pause in the upcoming week.

It was confirmed on Wednesday that Italian Serie A players will go on strike on the 11th and on the 12th of the month of December.

Earlier on Tuesday, reports explained that the September strike that had been called off by the ACI (Associazione Calciatore Italiana) had finally been rescheduled to take place in a few days to come.

The vice-president of the ACI, Leonardo Grosso, shared a statement with the press as he revealed that talks between the Italian Football Federation and the Players’ Union had failed following months of negotiations:

“The strike has been called for December 11 and December 12,” Leonardo Grosso declared.

“We are extremely disappointed because we were open to negotiate and to find common ground. However, no agreement has been reached.”

Actually, Serie A players have been complaining about issues surrounding transfer matters. According to them, they lack of protection when they enter into the final year of their contracts as clubs try to oblige them into a transfer.

How will the December strike affect the image of Italian football around Europe and the world?
