Marseille fans have a clear message for Didier Drogba - he is not welcomed at the club.

Chelsea legend Didier Drogba, may as well cancel his plans to return to former club Olympique Marseille in the French Ligue 1, if the recent mood among a section of the club's fans is anything to consider. The widely-travelled Ivory Coast star had been linked with a move to his former side Marseille after partying ways with MLS outfit Montreal Impact late last year. He recently told Canal +:

"There is an option to return to France, but I will no say more. I hope to be able to hold my promise one day [to return to Marseille]), it can be done. You just have to take the time to sit down and talk.

"My comeback at Marseille is the eternal question for more than 12 years now. Every time I respond, and people say I'm just talking. But you let a player go, and financially he is making a good living since then, and now you want him to come back and divide his salary in two?

"And after that, you say he doesn't like Marseille. Who works to earn less? No one.

"I would like to come back as a player. I even did what was necessary to make it happen. But I can't force the board to bring me back."

But it seems the fans of the French club are not willing to welcome their prodigal son. They recently held a banner during their Ligue 1 match vs rivals Monaco, and the message was crystal clear for the 38-year-old. It read:

“Drogba – stop saying you love Marseille. You earn more in a month than we do in our lives. Go back to China”

At Marseille, he made 35 league appearances and scored 19 league goals in the 2003/04 season.  And now that the French side are showing him a cold shoulder, he might as well consider offers from Brazilian giants Corinthians, who are reportedly interested in his signature.
