Chelsea head to Sunderland on Wednesday for an interesting English Premier League encounter. The Blues underperformed in their last game – a 1-0 win over West Brom – but secured all three points nonetheless. Given that Arsenal lost on Tuesday, this will be a golden chance for the table-toppers to increase their lead.
Unfortunately, they will have to beat the Black Cats without one of their star players this season: Eden Hazard. The Belgian, who has returned to his best under Antonio Conte, picked up an injury in their weekend win and has not recovered in time.
According to the Guardian, Hazard has “remained at Cobham for treatment”. The seriousness of his knock was not mentioned. However, this move to leave the former Lille ace at home is seen as a precautionary measure.
Eden Hazard has not travelled with the Chelsea squad to Sunderland. He has a knock from WBA game. Willian likely to replace him tonight #cfc

So no Hazard tonight. We should still do the job, and remember, we have Antonio Conte.

The London giants, as well as all the other Premier League sides, are set for a hectic list of fixtures which will see them play five games in 22 days. Their Italian boss is aware that a few players might be struggling for fitness, and thus wishes not to risk long-term injuries ahead of this crucial period.
Luckily for Chelsea, they have Willian. The Brazilian will likely deputize for Hazard. Although he isn’t on par with the Belgian ace, none would dare underestimate the brilliant Brazilian.
